The one time they played against each other, Laettner absolutely worked shaq. His footwork was just that good. Pretty good foreshadowing of how The Dream would do him a few years later.

Laettner gets shite on a lot but that guy was an absolute stud in college.

Shaq and Hakeem both worked each other those finals. Shaq was dominant offensively, too, against the supposed best post defender of that era.

A good offensive player always has the advantage in basketball.

They played twice. Laettner had the better game in 91 at Cameron (24/11, got Shaq in foul trouble). Shaq had 15/10 (he averaged around 28/14 for the year). That was the game he got "worked" I guess.

The next year in BR, Shaq had 25/12/7 blocks, Laettner 22/10. It was the first game Duke played without Hurley, Grant Hill ran point Youtube highlights (pro LSU highlights, ha)

He was. And it was gonna be hard to leave the consensus Natl POY off the team if you could only take 1 college player.

They played twice and Shaq outplayed him at the PMAC. Shaq had 25pts, 12 Rebs and 7 blocks to Laettner’s 22pts and 11 Rebs. The year before at Cameron Shaq got into foul trouble very early, because of course he did it was at Duke, only played 20 something minutes, had 15points, 10rebs and 4 blocks. Laettner had 24 and 10 in that one.
