if the pels beat the sizers tonite (no embiid, no maxey), is that a “good win”? Sixers are well above .500. Would that win tell you anything about the pels’ chances in the playoffs?

I’m not sure what the objection here is to the fact that the pels have done extremely poorly against good teams at full or near full strength. That’s not an opinion

I think it's even simpler than Pels vs. good teams. It's Pels vs. teams smart enough to pressure the ball when the shooters aren't available or on fire. Shifting more to Point Zion probably helps this as it gets the shooters easy shots and better rhythm. I'm not saying the problem is solved, but I think the Pels side of this equation from earlier in the year is as incomplete as the teams that were/are missing high level players.

No, and they already beat them when they didn't have Embiid, and i didn't count it.

I also wasn't counting the 4 arse whippings we gave the healthy Kings or all of the other playoff teams we've beaten.
I was just counting games against the elite record teams when healthy (teams on pace for 50+ wins), which consists of
Celtics
Bucks
Cavs
OKC
Minny
Nuggets
Clippers

You are literally giving an opinion of this b/c you've done zero research to back up your statement, unlike what i've provided for you.

We've won 5 against healthy elite teams.
When we are healthy, we've lost to Denver twice, Clips, and Celtics, so 4 losses.
5-4 against the elite teams when both teams are healthy.

there are 8 teams, soon to be 7, in the league with winning records against teams over .500, and we are one of them.

Why do you keep spouting off we haven't beaten good teams as if the rest of the league is all kicking the Celtics and Nuggets and OKC's arse?

I think you misunderstand what my position is. I agree with you…nobody is kicking arse against the elite teams including the pels. The premise of this thread is that the west is “wide open” for the pels to take advantage

But it isn’t, not even close.
one of the nuggets, thunder or clippers are winning the west and however that turns out, the pelicans won’t have anything to do with it.

I’m enjoying the season… they win more than they lose. But they are not going to factor into the eventual finals representative

I'd bet good money the Thunder and Clippers won't win the west.

The Clippers have Jim Harden, which should be an automatic disqualification imo

The Thunder are really good, but very very young, I would bet their inexperience will be their biggest downfall.

The Nuggets are the only team I'm truly scared of.

I've maintained this stance all year and I'll die on this hill: all the Pels have to do is keep the core healthy in April and we're going to do damage in the playoffs. 2nd rd/wcf damage.

Pelicans are having a good season overall. But go look at their odds to win. I trust Vegas more than anything with stuff like this.

The pelicans are winning and their odds are getting worse lol. Currently almost +7000. The lakers and Mavs are +2800 for fricks sake. I get a lot of money gets bet on the Lakers every year but how on god greens earth can you justify the Mavs being +2800 and the pelicans being +7000 almost?!

The West is too fricking deep and many of the teams we would be playing have recent playoff experience. Vegas also isn’t buying the Pelicans and neither are any of the bettors.

just playing devils advocate here but, what experience do the pelicans have that’s superior to the thunder?

let’s imagine a thunder-pels playoff series.
who would you say are the best four players in that series? Thunder would have home court. How many games do the pels win?

vs clippers…you taking the pels or the thunder?
vs nuggets…same question

Yeah that wasn't the argument, you said Clippers or Thunder would make it out of the west, I said they wouldn't and would bet money they wouldn't. The Pels don't have to beat them for that to happen.

but, what experience do the pelicans have that’s superior to the thunder?

They've actually played in a playoff series. The Thunder haven't. Not with this core.

SGA
Chet
Zion
Ingram

In that order. Jalen Williams is a beast, but not better than Z or Ingram.

Our depth is just as good as their depth if not better.

I would pick them to beat okc in 6 or 7 games.

I'd take the pels over the Clippers and the Thunder over the Clippers as well.

Nuggets over both

CJ, JV, Larry all have a good bit of playoff experience.
And the whole team minus Zion was in the playoffs two years ago.

On top of that, OKC, much like the Warriors, have zero interior presence.
I know everyone thinks JV will be a liability in the playoffs, but if we played OKC I’d expect to play through him a lot, and I’d expect him to be a big problem for them.

Zubac goes down and the Clips have zero chance to win the west.

You have to have something that can somewhat slow down Jokic

not exactly…I said one of the thunder/clips/nugs are winning the west and the pels aren’t beating any of those teams in a series

so the west is a three team race and not “wide open”. If the pels face any of those three I got a six pack on the opponent

you in?
