We just got a Weimaraner for my son's 15th birthday. He changed the pups name before we left the lady's house.

Dude. I got an Aussie from the same breeder and I absolutely love him.

In my humble opinion dachshunds are the best. Then you add that long hair and it's over lol.

We got our dog from the folks that originally got him from the breeder. They'd changed him name and we kept that.
Years later I tracked down the breeder to ask him some questions about our dog. When I told him who we got him from he said, "Oh, you've got trigger." So after I got off the phone I looked at our dog and said, "Trigger." He cooked his head to the side and looked at me with knowing eyes. We still call him by his other name (or dummy or dumbo) but he remembers his original name

Stefan de Turd Burglar is a great name...why would I change that.

I changed my dog's name from Pink to Reese. She started responding to the new name inside of 48 hours.

Like raising animals to eat, it's always best to not name your food or animals you're selling.

What? Hell no you don’t keep the name.
No one does that.
Rockford. Or Cujo.

That’s exactly where I’m at. I still have my son as Willem in my phone (he’s 17) because that’s what I wanted to name him…I apparently don’t have much pull with names.
Willem is a good name. Every woman in both families thought it sucked.
No wonder why he won't tell you how he got that dent in his car.

Is it a female?
If so, i don’t see the issue with the name

Honey sounds like a dog a pair of gays would name their dog. So change it. And you can always keep its given name and call it whatever you want

Change.
In the case of one of my dogs (an oversized male Sheltie), the breeder had registered him as "Apache Braveheart". I'm like, that is dumb.
But on the way home the family thought about different nicknames. "Patch" came up and stuck. And fits as he's a patchwork of black and white fur, blue merle with blue eyes.
I like one syllable, impactful names for my dogs so it's very clear when I'm trying to get their attention from across the field.

you’re paying for a dog from a breeder, name it whatever you want.
Hell I renamed the dog I got from a breed rescue. She survived and probably likes being Pepper bette than Piper

When my German Shepherd arrived (he was a working dog) from the breeder we used, his full name was "Major Salazar the Blazer of Four Winds 'O the Glenn". His name quickly became "Jack."

I’d name it after its mother, Denise.
Posted on 3/6/24 at 4:12 pm to Gaston
Denise if female, Skylar if male

I had my name already picked out so the breeder started calling her that name around four weeks old. Only name she has known.

we adopted a cat named Marx....sometimes the names assigned seem stupid and arbitrary.
we adopted a black cat and his name was Roger - I promptly renamed him Token after the South Park Character
