They will not have much information since they typically "buy" the debt in bulk, at a fraction of the value. If they cannot prove the debt, the collection ding will be removed. Ask the collection agency for proof they own the debt and then to send you a detailed list of charges they claim has not been paid. Tell them the charges are in dispute. Tell them to remove their claims from your credit reports immediately or you will turn it over to your lawyer.
