I had a vet once advise slippery elm bark for our lab who got into something that was making her throw up a lot (no blood though). She said it would soothe the lining of the stomach and intestines and help with irritation.
Don't know if it is right for your situation but you may want to ask your vet about using slippery elm for future sensitive stomach issues.
