That's the formula GM has taken with the Colorado. Engines, transmissions, axles, etc. are all from half ton trucks. It seems to work except the price is a little high and the MPG aren't great.

Yeah, that's the trade off.
The driveline never wears out. It's never stressed. It's over built to a fault.
But the pump isn't your friend.
