The OP will find that the only thing more fragile than the new Toyota Tacoma's front end is the ego of Toyota truck fanatics.
This turned out to be 100% true BTW.

Toyota’s recent string of disappointing trucks will continue if their loyalist keep drinking the cool aid. Car buyers should not accept half baked designs or widespread manufacturing defects given how much vehicles costs these days.
Car companies pack their vehicles with expensive crap we never asked for at the behest of our shitty government bureaucrats. We want functional, fun, affordable, and reliable cars and trucks. Instead we get expensive features like small displacement turbo motors, aluminum bodies, 10 speed transmissions, cylinder deactivation, EGR coolers, direct injection, DPF systems, etc. All of it negatively impacts the longevity and the long term costs of ownership.

I’m a certified Toyota hater. I think their reliability reputation is way overstated and it’s not like you don’t pay a premium for it. You pay top dollar for a Toyota over the other jdm brands and the features and tech you get are like 10 years behind everyone else.
You can make the argument that the new features and tech are just more shite that can break. Sure fine. But you aren’t getting a discount in forgoing those features. Quite the opposite actually.

People waiting for a hybrid GX550 just found this out. Pictures were just revealed showing a raised floor in the back that looks awful and thrown together.

The Mazda Miata and Jeep Wrangler are some of the rare holdouts. They seemed to have made "fun" their guiding principle and haven't lost sight of that. Neither are very practical though.
You also have some German convertibles, the Corvette, and Cadillac sports sedans that are awesome, but they are all very expensive now. And this is probably the last generation of some of those before they are either canceled or replaced with an even more expensive and less visceral electric vehicle.
Young men in their 20s have not seen their wages rise with inflation in the past 10 years. The economy has changed and the target audience for previously fun, cheap cars like the VW GTI, Mazda MX-5, or Subaru WRX has shrunken to almost nothing. Some of those cars will probably not be certified for the US market when they are redesigned.
