This makes sense and I understand this method and the stake kraka method. But when I do a crawfish boil, I like to throw shrimp and some king crab in there too. Is there realistically no perfect way to do all three? Usually I just throw the crab and shrimp in when I cut the fire and they turn out mostly ok.

I peel, butterfly, devein then poach. Never had a bad batch. I do them after the potatoes, garlic, corn and sausage.

Just get a small mesh bag and put the shrimp in. Boil for 1-1/2-2 minutes, let them soak for 15.

If your boiling crawfish for 3-7 minutes, just throw them in at the appropriate time.
