A dealer can change the spec of a vehicle on allotment or trade one of their vehicles on allotment with another dealer.
Once the dealer has the base vehicle on their allotment, they can change trim, color, and options.
It’s a real PITA and it took me close to two years to get my Tundra double cab with an 8’ bed.
