When I was 35 and not ever married yet, I was dating a 23 year old smokeshow for about 6 months. Every aspect was beyond great (not exaggerating at all) except....agreement about religion. I felt that only really mattered in the case of a longer term relationship.
One night in the hot tub we got on the subject and I got a bit too honest about my long term marriage thoughts. The kind of plans and dreams you would say to your best friend in honest moments. Bad idea.
My smokeshow relationship was over the next week, and there was a guy waiting in the wings (timing could be suspect or not) that she ended up getting married to. He is a good dude and they have been married a couple of decades...still see them around.
It worked out great for me as well, but I learned from that event to keep my pie hole firmly shut until I was having a deliberate conversation, NOT just thinking out loud while soaking in hot water after knocking boots.
