Don't be so dramatic. The key fob is a physical control that grants access to a 50K+ vehicle.
The encryption methods and control of them has changed over the years, but it's not auto companies being unreasonably greedy. Kia has looser controls, and that has government going after them for too loose controls to start a car.
But your solution is ... what?
You can perform a ton of maintenance and mods on your vehicle with a $30 OBDII to USB device, and a $60 program on your laptop.

As the owner of a Chevrolet Colorado, You may find Yourself needing to progRam Your new key fob. This is easy to do, and takes about 3 or 4 minutes. The first thing You will need to do is sit down on the driver's side. Next, make sure all of the doors are fully closed. Push down and hold the unlock button found on the driver's side power lock panel. When You take Your finger off the button, You will hear the doors lock and unlock one time. This indicates You are now in reprogRam mode. Push down the unlock and lock buttons simultaneously, for around 30 to 40 seconds, until the doors unlock and lock a second time. Finally, turn Your ignition to the on position, then back off.
