We are already over the 2025 cap, brother (it's 2024).
Which means nothing, just like the cap going INTO this 2024 free agency season meant nothing.
And the packers were in a horrible cap situation - why do you think they were mad at ARod?????? They couldnt plan because they didnt know what he would do.

Everyone agrees that is the ONE example of this in the modern era.
Can you read? And define everyone - who’s that you and the other Karens on here? What a gaslighter man, everyone agrees my arse. Who your Mom agrees with you?
quote:
Niners - montana/young/garcia
Niners - Garrapolo/Lance[/img]
Chargers - Flutie/brees/rivers (bress sat for 1, rivers sat for 2 years)
Packers - favre/rodgers/[i]J love
Chiefs - Smith/mahomes
Cowboys - Romo/Prescott
Patriots - Brady/Garropolo
Falcons - Chandler/Vick
Bengals - Kitna/Palmer (sat for 1 year)
Giants - Warner/Eli Manning
Chargers - Tyrod Taylor/Herbert - was going to sit until Tyrod got hurt
Raven - Flacco/Lamar Jackson - Lamar sat until week 11 after Flacco got hurt.
Nothing modern huh? Soo long ago.
The italicized happened in the last 10 years, and very recently. Mahomes, J Love, Lamar, and Herbert. Edit - also Lance.
Bolded is after 2000, which is still very relevant. Literally almost ALL of this qb stashing listed occurred AFTER 2000.
And there are other examples in past history. Johnny Unitas’ backup won MVP after Unitas retired.
Common practice Karen.

So your saying we can out bid any team for any amount of players we want to keep or pick up in FA. Let's start with that KC Dlineman.
That's great news.
That's great news.

Actually the situations before 2011 are not relevant. In 2011 the new CBA put limits on rookie contracts in both money and years. Last years #1 pick Bryce Young got less than Sam Bradford the #1 pick in 2010. It’s also a 4 year contract with a 5th year club option for first rounders and players cannot get an extension until after the 3rd year. This is a huge advantage for teams with a stud QB on a rookie deal which is wasted by sitting a QB for multiple years like Green Bay.
Maybe you should learn some football stuff instead of just regurgitating lists of teams that drafted or acquired a back up QB

What I said:
Your examples:
Was supposed to be 1-year, but Lance sucked arse.
Ancient
Ancient
1 year
Prescott wasn't even supposed to be good and he just got the shot when Romo was hurt (his rookie year, mind you). They didn't draft Dak to sit.
Then Romo retired.
No clue why you didn't try to use Flynn/Wilson too
Garapolo was never set to be the starter and only filled in for a game or 2 while Brady was suspended....also, ancient.
Ancient
Ancient
Ancient and Manning played in his first pro game
1-year (and more like 4-5 weeks)
Again 1 year
So yeah, you just proved my point. Either ancient examples, examples of 1-year sits, OR the packers with Rodgers and Love.
Thanks for proving my point

One example under the current CBA, where all the positive EV for a QB is on his rookie deal.
You have the Packers and then either (1) situations that are ancient or (2) 1-year sits, which is fine (but which we can't really afford to do).
