Of course, they pushed the season back a week and looks like we are going to have an early spring. Seeing some nice gobblers on camera and even heard some hikers have seen some turkey fights. Andy Gargulio (sic) had some ALabama wildlife guys on last year or year before saying this should be good year. I guess we will see. Good luck to everyone.
I think I finally have this kinda down, I am good for one bird a season now, but that’s about it, (even though last year could have killed two in one day but obviously can’t in Alabama, but did sight in the second bird for fun) My mouth calls still sound like shite, but they work, so who cares. Many thanks to the people on here that really helped me figure this shite out, they really got into my head for years.
Apex just replenished their SST and Academy had some federal SSTs in stock on airport last week so get them while you can.
Hope everyone has a great opening week and bags a bird. (It’s Monday the 25th for most people so get that day off, that weekend if you have a kid)

Hey, there are lots of turkey hunters who would love to kill one eastern each spring.
Me included! LOL
Good luck this spring.

Already been on pins and needles waiting for turkey season. Going to the camp this Saturday and next to locate. Luckily we’re still opening on the 15th in Mississippi. I’ve already requested 3 PTO days for opening day, Monday, and Tuesday.

Dad sent me this from his game cam yesterday.
Pic
He saw that same gobbler in his backyard, full strut, about an hour before that.
He's itching big time.
*Edit: I can't post a pic. I'm dum.

Heading to Gaylesville area in April. Did Alabama W&F cut back on the turkey limits this year?

My favorite time used to be the March 15 opener and the next few days. Usually cool and the woods are open and no bugs. Also always seemed to gobble well then in Monroe County. But if moving the opener back 10 days helps the population then okay. Problem is some of the locals kind of set their own seasons.

Glad Alabama finally pushing season back. Wish Mississippi would do same. Turkeys declining. Although this probably won’t help a lot, it’s a start. Limit should be lowered as well. Kill a coon, save a turkey

Me and my brother were planning on going back to Red Hills for opening day, but any suggestions on other WMA's in Middle/South Alabama with good birds and decent primitive camping area? (Decent meaning, flat and dry)

I have been all over the Facebook groups hunting for hunting locations with "Hunting in Alabama" searches and anything similar. I am about as depressed ever.
Hundreds of men are constantly posting they are in search of a hunting club or a lodge or something so they can take their families, however there is rarely any supply. And if there is any supply the seller is most likely withholding turkey rights.
The poor has been priced out of hunting.

Don’t have any pics that nice but haven’t put feeders out yet.
I actually have a recommendation for you.
The bottomlands at Geneva State Forest, the Southern Section. It’s near damn near nothing. I am not sure about camping locations. Send us pics of your dead turkeys and a “Thank You “ lol
Geneva State Park
Geneva State Park 2
You can primitive camp there. Take the camp that’s furthest South

Ever since the river came up we have been covered up with birds on our place in Washington county. Been doing my best to keep them there. I don’t know how I feel about season being pushed back but it seemed like last year the first 3 weeks we just didn’t hear shite and then the woods came alive. Had quite a few really good hunts after that and killed 1. Thought my buddy and I were going to get 2 more one morning but just didn’t work out.

I hunt near the red hills wma and would be interested in hearing how hunters on the wma fare. Is it crowded? Lots of birds? That region is turkey central. Hope it’s not like public land hunting in Louisiana where the guns often outnumber the gobblers.

We went late last spring and only saw 2 other trucks the entire weekend. No kills but heard plenty

There is supposed to be a turkey kill ratio published on all WMAs that are open in Alabama but it’s not up on OA yet. I will post it when it comes up

Here is the annual hunting report for Alabama. Good news is the average number of hunts per turkey has actually gone down to less than 10 days per turkey now.
