Honestly if we get an entirely new arena out of it or a significantly reworked PMAC...I'll be happy.

I don't want a warmed over River Center arena or a PMAC with some fresh paint. We need nicer digs and I think the fans can support it - either on campus or downtown.

They aren't suggesting LSU renovate the River Center to use as LSU's home arena in the future. Rather, they are saying an aspect of the pitch to raise the funds for a new LSU arena would be that it would serve as the primary arena in EBR for concerts and other such things. Thus, they want assurances the River Center would not compete for those events. I'm assuming LSU would be looking for some tax money to help fund the building of a new arena and they have to show it would have benefit to the city/parish beyond just LSU sports.

I think others, myself included, just assumed that if LSU were to build a new arena at the current site of the PMAC they would need a temporary place to play while it is getting built. However, it seems more likely LSU will look to build an arena somewhere else on campus.

The ordinance says that the project would be located on property on the LSU campus. The most logical site would be the Bernie Moore site considering that you would still have the benefits of connecting to your relatively new practice facility, basketball statues, parking, and other assets while continuing to use the PMAC.

I dont honetly know how this works but the mooney center was built with private investor money. Lets say Shaw were to front $ for the building. They would then own the revenue from non lsu events such as concerts, harlem globe trotters or make up whatever you want. They would keep this revenue for say 15 years then it transfers to lsu. I see this scenario as to why the restrictions on the river center for non compete. Lsu would play in the pmac till moving by the water campus where rumor of the new arena will be located

Yeah even a smaller, new arena like the ones at Auburn or U of Houston would be a tight squeeze where the PMAC is without moving the track stadium. It's certainly possible but it would be challenging.

Wonder where they'd build the new one. I guess out by Alex Box or maybe on one of the commuter lots near Parker/Gourrier?
