I'm just glad I've not given up completely...ever, despite there being times in my life where it probably looked like I completely gave up on my health. I've changed modes and methods, had lay-offs that seem to never end and then left me feeling like I'm perpetually "getting back into shape" or "re-starting" whatever. When I look back on my life and I see that, I see that I was always struggling and trying my best, with different levels of results.

With age and more experience I'm able to see the things I did well, or "right", and why. I can see the opposite as well. I've been continually learning though, and that pays off more than anything, it's not a big challenge, nor is it hard work. I'm just curious and I am always reading/watching/listening to things and adding valuable nuggets to my pile of "shite I know." My 45 year old mind/psyche/emotional state, whatever you want to call it, is better now than ever, and it's continuously improving, and that should continue for a long time. It should for anyone and everyone. I'm definitely no genius, just doing the best with what I got, until I'm dead.

It's hard to keep the body in tip top shape, but if your knowledge never stops growing and your ability to make use of that knowledge improves as well, then you can make up for the inevitable gradual decline in physical performance....up to a point. (But I think most people would be surprised with what they could accomplish as an older person who may not be that physically capable anymore, but is waaaay smarter about how they go about doing life.)

I worry less about being stronger/faster/etc. right now as compared to younger me. Instead, I worry about being wiser, smarter, more patient, capable of better judgement, making better decisions, improved time management, all that stuff.
