Spoke with my rep earlier in the week and was told there are several insurance bills in the upcoming session that could bring some relief. I haven’t seen any bills filed yet, but will keep track of it during the session and report back.

How long until he’s sentenced, and for how long?

I sure hope so. I live in north LA, far away from any flood zone and my damn house note goes up $181 starting 3/1.

Well, Flood Insurance would have nothing to do with your Homeowners going up. But I'd imagine your insured value went up due to still rising supply and repair costs accounting for some of that increase.

And then of course remember insurance is based on the principle of sharing risk and cost. You can thank all the folks who see an ad on tv to get a new roof for that portion of the increase.

I hate that shite so much. That and the fact that a $10K roof becomes $20K when insurance is involved because they know the company will pay it

Bring “relief” to whom?
This is the La. Legislature. Landry is Gov.
Remember, Landry refused federal money for lunches for poor kids in favor of federal financial relief for crawfish industry.
His “relief” may be for insurance companies.

Roof prices are dictated via Xactimate and prices are updated monthly via zip code. Could a 20k roof be done for 10k? Absolutely….good luck with the quality of everything and getting everything replaced like it’s paid for

You live in a flood zone. I hope you sleep well tonight knowing this.

You hit the nail on the head. The legislature gives zero f’s about us and only care about lining their own pockets.

They don’t understand that

Also don’t understand that it’s the insurance company that decides if you need a new roof or not

Probably want roofers to eat their deductible as well. How many times they ask their doctor wave their deductible?

A few months ago, my auto insurance almost DOUBLED.

My auto is 10 years old & has a little over 100K miles(I know OT poor). Thankfully, I have not filed a claim on it yet.

On my way to work every morning, there are at least 15 'lawyer' billboards on the side of Interstate 20.

Now we all know that is one of the big reasons our auto insurance rates are so high.

I will gander that Louisiana has so many driving around with NO auto insurance.

I read that Mississippi, YES Mississippi, auto insurance rates, are way lower than Louisiana's.

Now I wonder what our 'new' conservative governor and the La legislature is going to do for addressing out of control auto insurance rates?

Oh, I forgot to mention, the trail lawyers was one of Landry's biggest contributors in his election campaign.

What was the line in one of Clint Eastwoods movie?
'Whupped 'em again didn't we.'

I also have no faith in our legislature. But I will bring the info here when I see it come up for a vote. Maybe we can call these legislators and see if they’ll budge.

That’s not the point, the point is the roof should be repaired, not full replacement in most instances.

Don’t hold your breath. Even if reform is passed, it takes years to see any kind of impact. Florida passed meaningful reform last year and trial bar attorneys proceeded to file 280k suits to clog up the system before the law could take affect

I wouldn’t say most but yes there are many instances but codes are made from complaints from homeowners…..ie color match, some manufacturers…ie discontinued shingles, etc
