Teachers at West Charlotte High School decorated their classroom doors and doors in the school halls with the theme of the February holiday that celebrates the accomplishments and history of Black Americans.
One door represented Motown, another had the message "From Chains to Change" with an image of two hands in chains.
But one classroom door depicting a “white” and “colored” entrance is causing some controversy. While some found some of these decorations to be offensive, others thought it was a great way to spark meaningful conversations about Black history.
Thoughts? I think it's an effective display. It's dumb that they had to remove it. These are high school kids. They can handle an uncomfortable conversation about how things used to be.

Lmfao the OT will defend anything if it means making minorities uncomfortable

we defeated racism by bringing the statues down so sure, let's create some more divisiveness to "start a conversation"

The company I used to work for was based out of Minnesota, which is basically the New York of the northern states. The look on their faces when I told them about black and white Catholic churches, many of which are still in use today, was priceless.

It's a historically black high school and the display was done by a black teacher, you dumb bitch.

This would make me very uncomfortable as a white man. I’d imagine that was the entire point

So the point was to spark conversation?
How about we stop talking about the past and start moving forward as one race - the human race.

Someone did not think this through.
Stupid idea.

I was told by a white female LSU law student that black people cannot be racist
true story

So, a door saying from chains to change is different than a door on the same hallway depicting actual change?

I'd love to watch their heads explode when I walk through the colored entrance door.
"Hey, you can't come through that door! You ain't black!"
"Damn right! I'm white. I can go through any door I want."

They can? Because if you look at college campuses, it doesn’t seem like people can around that age.

Modern day Americans aren't deep enough thinkers to understand symbolism and meaning or grasp the concept of a learning experiment. I mean, look at fareplay.
Immediate outrage is the only answer.

You’d be the modern day Rosa Parks.

That’s what’s getting us into this mess. Trying to erase history only causes it to be repeated.

The irony of it all is those that decry racism the loudest today are the same ones trying to bring back actual segregation.

We had a debate about the confederate flag in high school. 3 white kids verses the rest of the class. We saw each others sides and how each other saw the flag. Kids need open conversations about how things use to be and where we as a country should be. I see no problem with it.

Everything is divisive these days, I mean even the “black national anthem “ before the Super Bowl.
This display seems to be accurate for Black History month, I wonder if it was a history class with these doors.
Personally I don’t see anything wrong with it in a school setting where the kids are there to learn.
