I worked with an Admin a few years back who also happened to be the daughter of a Senior PM, and the granddaughter of a prominent family. She was bitching one day about being broke. But as we discussed it further, it boiled down to her "buying whatever she "wants".

I tried to explain to her that it may be easier to think of the purchase price in terms of hours / work (after taxes). For example, if you bring home $20/hr after taxes then this $500 purse is the equivalent of 25 hours of work. She looked me square in the eye and said "That's not going to work b/c if I want it, I'm going to buy it."

Fast forward a few years and I saw her drive through the drop off at the Dry Cleaners driving a brand new Denali with two kids in the back.

She was from Old Metairie, btw, so she may be one of the aforementioned "Now Ex Wives"..... In that case, I'm sorry. I tried.
