While it’s true you can turnover a roster in 1 year, that’s not a model of consistency. McMahon is laying groundwork for a sustainable program that will be consistent year in and year out without having to rebuild in the portal every year. Reloading your whole team through the portal doesn’t guarantee you shite, see: Arkansas this year

That sounds good in theory. But it may not be feasible in practice. McMahon signed 4 guys in his first class at LSU. Two left after one season. Now, the other signees, Ward, Reed, Williams have played key minutes this season and (presumably) Chest is ok with a redshirt, but I don't think any coach can be assured his players will return. That's just the nature of the sport now. There are guys, every year, who are key players on a team to transfer to another. Hell, just look at Jordan Wright. He was a 4 year player at Vandy who was likely in line to be one of their best players this season. And keep in mind, Vandy finished the season well last year and was in the conversation for a NCAA Tournament spot (some say they were snubbed)...ALL while LSU was the worst team in the SEC. Didn't matter. Wright left for LSU.

Coaches are going to have to rely on the portal year in and year out to rebuild their roster. You're right, that can lead to inconsistent results (see Missouri and South Carolina vs. their teams last season). The key is trying to find the right mix of HS signees, transfers who will stay more than one season, and a few veteran 1 year transfers.

This kind of logic and reasoning will not be tolerated here. This man 100% gets it!
