I can respect someone who opposes the death penalty. I don’t agree with them but I don’t see that as a disqualification for a Conservative or a Republican. Some people have a Libertarian bent and don’t want to give that authority to the state. Others think matters of life and death belong to God alone. These are things we can discuss as it’s a traditional “ size and scope of government “ conversation that we have always had.
