Every bit of work they did was manual labor to a degree. I'd imagine they worked dawn-to-dusk.

I can't fathom it. In the 800s, the average man ate 7000 calories in Europe? In feudal times?

I wonder what their caloric intake was on average during the winter months especially in the more northern climates.....especially in the later parts of the season.
