This was a great movie. I'm not sure it QUITE lived up to the insane hype, but it was really great.
Just masterful filmmaking at times, with so many amazingly done shots.
Very patient filmmaking for 2024 audiences, I am a bit surprised at how well received it is with the audiences.

Well when you have a decade of constant flow of sludge with politics and bad superhero movies, movies like Top Gun Mavrick, Dune I and II, and couple of others that are faithful to source material, are a breath of fresh air. That is why you are seeing this audience reaction to Dune. These movies are high cinema in comparison the constant political sludge that comes out of Hollywood.
I go see movies to escape into the world of Dune, not think about a stupid Presidential election. For all its warts, Dune I and II does make you feel like you are on Arrakis. It should be praised just for that alone.

Agree completely. Think I let myself get TOO hype. Because it was truly great. Honestly, the only thing I can complain about was the third act. How can something feel so epic but also feel rushed?
I think Denis needed a third movie for Dune BUT I think his love for and desire to make Dune Messiah trumped that
