Saw it Saturday night. Hot damn that was a fun ride. The best theatre experience since... Dune part 1. The first time Paul jumped on the worm I felt like I was riding a big arse worm too I feel bad for people who wait to it hits streaming to watch this. This is a must watch in theatres, preferably on the biggest, loudest screen possible. I'll be seeing it again in theatres.

It delivered on every aspect for me. It went away from the source a bit more than pt 1 but for the most part it was in a good way.

Only had a few complaints, and they're pretty minor. One was CHani's attitude towards Paul when he started fulfilling prophecy/when she started not supporting him. Mainly didn't like it because it was different from the book but I get why they did it. Another was the final scene. Thought it could have ended on a better scene or one that was more complete. Didn't like that it felt more like a cliffhanger than a final scene. I get that there is supposed to be Dune Messiah but it would have been nice to close off the first books story line on a different note than "ok let's see what Chani does next".

This was a great movie. I'm not sure it QUITE lived up to the insane hype, but it was really great.

Just masterful filmmaking at times, with so many amazingly done shots.

Very patient filmmaking for 2024 audiences, I am a bit surprised at how well received it is with the audiences.

Initially I had that feeling but I kind of like the choice after sitting with it as it signals that Paul is no longer the moral compass for the audience; Chani is. Paul is making a choice to go down this road but it comes with real costs of his relationship with Chani (and presumably his children whom I’m sure we will find out Chani is carrying in Part 3) and soon-to-be the lives of the houses against whom we have no real beef (Paul has his revenge, everything to follow now is living out prophecy/following his prescience).

Ending Part 2 on the Fremen flying off to Holy War would have been visually epic but it would have missed the point of where this is all going: everything is messy, nobody is perfect (despite every attempt by characters to make Paul seem that way), and the worst is yet to come. So ending on Chani’s pain as she prepares to ride off into seclusion underscores that while Paul and Jessica got what they wanted, it doesn’t mean everyone else is necessarily better for it.
