Wade did an amazing job getting the excitement around the program sky high from the day he walked onto campus to the day he left, year in and year out. Fans loved it, media and blue bloods hated it. He recruited high level players like no other coach before him and many (not all) were also dogs that competed. After his first season of getting embarrassed on the rebound side of things he made it a priority to drill on it and get players with the want to. After 4 years of getting scored on at will he made it a priority to improve. It was a great 5 year run by any standard but especially coming off the blah years previous. However I definitely recall this board constantly complaining about not playing defense, or when we did we weren't elite offensively, or we got out worked in some form or out smarted in another form. He wasn't an elite coach but he showed the ability to make changes to improve weak areas and I think with time he would have been able to put it all together for a well rounded run consistently.

McMahon is no where near the "energizer" of the program that Will was. Not sure if his level of recruiting can or will approach Will's either but may be too soon. And it might be too early to really tell if his coaching will continue upwards - he has made improvements over his first season, can he take another big step next year is the question? He has improved 100 spots on both offense and defensive efficiency, but plenty more improvement left to do.
