I’m in my early 50s but I worked a side job through much of my 40s at a hardware store, even a couple years at restaurant. Before I got in the fire service I was in the restaurant business. I had managers at the hardware store younger than me and we got along fine, granted, again I was just a part timer.
Some were intimidated at first since I was older and in the fire service (yes, that seems dumb to me also) but once they realized I’m laid back and never cared about discussing my main job they eased up. I’ll work hard for anyone, even a shitty boss. A shitty boss for a part time job I’ll just simply leave. As far as how to act just be respectful and like others have said, if being good with computers isn’t needed, give them that leeway.
