Aerosmith was a pretty damn good show, too. Brittney was fricking hot in that show. 2001.

Also, Nelly and NSYNC / Justin Timberlake and Mary J. Blige.

2001 halftime, with Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler and Chris Rock.

Do y'all remember the halftime show when it was in the Superdome and they had a bunch of Harleys come out on the field? I think the Blues Brothers sang. I thought that one was pretty cool.

But did it? Its the NFL...the only time its ever rained at a Super Bowl it was during Prince singing "Purple Rain". It didn't rain before or after he performed that song.

The correct answer is Michael Jackson in the Rose Bowl for Super Bowl XXVII. A distant second is The Rolling Stones.

I saw an article the other day that the weeknd put up some absurd amount of his own money to make sure that show went exactly the way he wanted.

All the halftime entertainers pay for their show.

They don’t get paid by the NFL to do the halftime show.

The number I've seen most often is seven million. Plus it was a live performance, no lip-synching. He was getting ready to go on tour for his After Hours album but Covid cancelled that.

Lets try this

quote:

The Weeknd, who performed in 2021, likely offset some of his streaming profits because he reportedly dropped $7 million of his own money for the performance, and although the NFL has not confirmed the total price tag, Forbes estimates the show could have cost as much as $20 million.

NFL vice president of communications Brian McCarthy told Newsweek in 2022 that the league doesn't pay halftime performers an "appearance fee, but the artists are indeed paid union scale." But Newsweek reported that under the union agreement that would've been about $1,000 a day for the Jennifer Lopez and Shakira Super Bowl show.
