Jay took over a lot of duties. Some people noticed that Jay started making the mound visits around the Georgia series. We came to find out that Wes was interviewing for jobs around that time. Right before Hurd made his turnaround Jay made comments that he was going to totally change Hurd’s mental approach and it worked, something clicked.

I think Wes is a good coach, but all indications point to Jay pressing the right buttons at the end of the season.

You'll get downvoted, but you are right. I'm not saying Wes isn't a good coach, but the pitching staff seemed to do better as Jay seemed to be more involved. It could have been a mental thing. I don't recall exactly what was said, but I remember watching an interview where Jay was asked about losing Wes. His answer seemed more to revolve around losing a great friend than it was about the coach. Maybe it was nothing, but it was just something that stuck out when I saw it.
