Dude there is no comparison from last year to this year. We didn’t have close to the depth we do this year. Of course it’s going to look completely different this year. Had we not lost 3 of our best pitchers last year, we would have been #1 all season and you definitely woufmt be saying this nonsense. Just about everyone of our pitchers improved on velo and added another pitch. The change-up was a big deal for Wes-Johnson and he helped all of our pitchers out, including Skenes.
Say what you want but it was because of Wes that Skenes threw 100 mph. He was throwing 93-95 max before. Wes put him on a strictly pitching regiment and his velo picked up 5mph. The same with many of our pitchers. Yeskie and Wes are very different coaches but get very similar results. Wes is all about the science of the game. Yeskie is all about preparing for the battle on game day but is also adds some science into his style as well.
Both are two of the best in the game and we should just be happy that we had both. I’m not sure if one is better than the other but what Wes did last year is quite amazing. Especially after losing the depth we had.
