Should get a judgement in plaintiff’s favor but how to you quantify damages? Surely punitive damages on the table but defense could easily say the kid has gotten positive coverage as a result of the dumbass reporter.
Solution: Fire the reporter for being a shitty reporter. Make Deadspin pay the kid $100,000 to make sure they don’t let it happen again.

It's bigger than just a reporter, the editor that let it go the website as a whole for not taking it down for seven days, even after they were made aware, seven hours after it was posted.
Or maybe the lawyers for them who threaten the counter sue and "ruin them" if they attempted a lawsuit
I'm not a fan of frivolous lawsuits, but then this case it's something bigger where this kind of shite needs to stop and the only way to do it is to make the monetary penalty so strong that companies won't allow this anymore
