Well, looks like the marked was flat today, Harry. Notwithstanding the scaremongering from the UAW and you.
The only thing the market needed for a calm day was fear that Armageddon was imminent because the BIG 3 weren't going to be bailed out.

Remember when CNBC said there was going to be Armageddon after the first 700B bailout failed? Then the next day the market was also flat. Harry is no better.

I'd say it had a lot more to do with the Treasury coming out and basically giving Congress a big frick you. Without that happening, I think you could've seen a circuit breaker day (which we somehow haven't seen yet).
