Having had Oryx and Axis, can confirm everything you said, including the Axis being hit so hard. My buddy did the broken horn hunt a few weeks ago South of San Antonio and was shocked at how much meat he ended up with.

Yes sir, Me, my brother-in-law, and dad hunted in Mountain Home Texas this year and I ended up taking a Red Deer Hind, my BIL shot a broken horned Oryx, and my dad shot an Axis doe. All fantastic, but that Oryx was leaps and bounds better. I hope to go back again next year and have already called dibs on any broken horned Oryx.
