Yea if it does then what is the point of a board making decisions on what's best for the business? Just let a judge decide.

Judges are emboldened now to rule relative to their political persuasion. This won't nearly be the last case. One in New York and one in Delaware so far.

I was more commenting on musk being responsible for EV tech advancement

A tech that MANY commentators in this very thread would say is less than worthless and the world would be better off if EV R&D was permanently halted.

Just a shitpost at those who weirdly love musk but will go to their graves thinking climate change is a hoax and think anyone who supports an EV only future is either stupid or evil.

You do realize he sold X/twitter to company within his companies. This was done for the down turn he told everyone that was coming. So now it's a tax credit for loses on original purchase but a gain overall.

You do understand that the problem many have with EVs isn't the tech or the fact that they exist. It's that they are being pushed so hard despite still being years away from being close to replacing ICE vehicles reliably. That and the cost.

A Delaware judge on Tuesday ruled that billionaire Elon Musk's $56 billion Tesla pay package could be voided, calling the compensation "an unfathomable sum" that was not fair to shareholders, according to a court filing.

Not the judges place to decide that. That’s the shareholders and the board.

Musk’s car company went from a start up to the most valuable car company in the world by market cap in just 15 years. He disrupted an industry controlled by giants like GM, VW, Toyota, Ford, and Hyundai. He’s forced all automakers to rethink their strategy. Tesla now makes the hottest selling car on the road when they didn’t make anything just 20 years ago.

So Musk is doing a damn good job.

It’s a really high number, but that Company is Musk. I wonder what it would be worth if he bowed out tomorrow….? That said, that figure of compensation might be a bargain

Well that seems to be an oversimplification of the issue to fit your worldview.

I think most people have an issue with the government’s aggressive approach to incentivizing both supply and demand of EVs, along with current policies to make 100% adoption in the next 10-15 years.

And Tesla has by far the best EV tech. Hell the government helped fund it. But then they let every other manufacturer adopt independently with little regard to tech standardization or simply building off of Teslas progress.

It is.

Yeah but the majority of the posts in EV threads are bashing EVs and technology in particular instead of about the government pushing the tech at the taxpayer expense.

This is a gross misrepresentation of viewpoints you disagree with. In fact, I'd say you're substituting the leftist view of gas powered vehicles into the normal view of EVs. EV should not be considered the answer to gas powered vehicles. Our electrical infrastructure cannot handle everyone having an EV, especially if were going to move away from all "bad fuels" for electricity purposes. It's a childish notion that only people with the intellect of a child would believe is possible anytime soon. That doesn't mean EVs have no purpose and shouldn't exist.

Oh. Well. I guess that part about intellect of a child does apply here. Man-made climate change is a hoax. Elon Musk believes the biggest threat to civilization is underpopulation. Do climate change activists believe that?

The point is, supporting Elon Musk, or even driving an EV, doesn't mean you believe in man-made climate change. Only a simpleton would make such a connection.

This is correct. These are the only two options here because this is a fantasy at this point. There's no legit plan to even get there.

Right. We have real world examples of the adoption rate thus far being more than enough. They are actually creating functional issues that we can’t yet deal with. That in and of itself is ok, that’s how progress happens.

They should have been incentivized as 2nd/ 3rd vehicles or business only. You get the artificial increased demand, and have time to diagnose and correct real world driving, maintenance and infrastructure issues, with the added benefits such as longer useful lives, creating less waste in production facilities as well as end of life disposal issues.

If states actually follow through on converting completely to EVs for their fleets, we're going to see some major disruptions in services in a very short period of time. Maybe that would be a good thing though.
