I mean, I really like Van Lith (as a SG) and think she’s stepping up as “the best option” to try to gut out a season learning PG, but it is telling when the opposite side has the starting PG and a replacement averaging 5pts go off for 24 and 19, respectively.

HVL does struggle to defend at the 1. It is a concern against any team that can exploit that unless Mulkey starts making changes on defense.

Anyone who followed HVL at Louisville would tell you this was her biggest issue in college. Opposing guards she guarded would constantly get career highs when she defended them. At Louisville she was able to counteract that by scoring a lot. At LSU we aren't really getting much scoring out of her, partly Mulkey's fault having her out of position but she is also just playing so hesitant and not looking to score at all.

I certainly have no skins such as Mulkey, but have been in the profession. We need to mix and change defenses occasionally. Teams get comfortable against our man to man, mostly because we lack quickness

There are no other options. We don't have a shifty, quick athlete on this roster to handle good college level point guards with above average quickness. Zero. They are not on this team currently. Its a roster oversight. HVl is the best you got defensively.
