I was scrolling through the Team Rankings on on3 and noticed something interesting. In the top 50, LSU ranks #2 (Maryland #1, 149 miles) at the distance of recruits to campus at 189 mi.

And it's not even close. #3 on the list is Miss. State at 214 miles. I'll list the top 10:

1. Georgia - 487mi
2. Alabama - 650mi
3. Oregon - 930mi
4. Ohio St. - 424mi
5. Miami - 558mi
6. Texas - 447mi
7. LSU - 189mi
8. Auburn - 323mi
9. Oklahoma - 914mi
10. Notre Dame - 624mi

Not that this in and of itself is a metric for success, but it does show how LSU compares to other schools in recruiting locally and within the state. Here is the link if you want to take a gander. Stanford at 1970 miles

I was told Kelly was a lazy recruiter. Hopefully him traveling a quarter of the distance helps

Does Maryland not get the DMV blue chips? Seems bizarre they don’t have more success given the talent in that area

Guy had like 18 commits within a charge of his Tesla. That’s an advantage.

So much talent in state. That’s why LSU was always a sleeping giant before the 2000s. If we could just keep those studs home we have all the talent we need to win championships right here.

And just for a reference.. U of Maryland captures 6 states and D.C. in their radius. I was a military officer for 12 years, and there is a large population of people and soldiers in that radius.
