45 years ago this month my wife's doctor told her she was pregnant with our first child. She gave her 2-week notice the day she knew and we were a single income family from that day forward.

Our kids had a mom to see them off to school and be there when they got home - and she got to go on field trips as a chaperone and be with them during spring and summer break, if they were sick, on holidays, snow days, etc. And after school, their friends would come to our home for a snack and had adult supervision.

Our kids turned out great - successful adults now, never in real trouble - best decision for our family.

we got a kid in daycare. Seems alright. She is good around other kids.

not ideal I guess but I was raised with two white collar working parents. Never crossed my mind to have a stay at home wife
