Yes. Just like hosting a Super Bowl. Your city and facilities have to meet a lot of requirements. Many use it as an excuse for upgrades. Most of Houston’s downtown and surrounding areas growth was based on hosting SuperBowls. The bs metro rail was one of them.

Eventually sports gambling needs to be available for any big venue or the powers that be aren’t going to bring it there.
