The Advocate ($)

Koki has been putting out some good work already, but this article really gets me excited to see how Braswell improves offensively this season. He touches on some things I noticed with Braswell's ground ball rate and fly ball rate, the places where there were opportunities to maximize his skills since he already makes a lot of contact and a lot of good contact.

quote:

Before coming to LSU, Braswell described his swing as "an all hands swing." But his problem was not a strength issue — when he hit the ball, his exit velocities were up to his standard.

He just wasn't activating his hips and lower body when he swung, causing him to hit too many grounders.

I wonder if Leah looks at the coverage we're already getting from Koki, and realizes she stole money for the last year, and used it to fall up the ladder

Not to hijack this thread, but I agree on Koki and also think Wilson Alexander is good as well

Jay is amazing at getting players to buy in to his path for them. We are so lucky to have him.

0 popups in 183 plate appearances for Braswell is wild, looking at d1 only 6 people with 150+ PA did that in 2023. Most impressive one of those is Alexander Olivo (Texas Southern) with 228 PA and still had an OPS of 1.204 sheesh

Not making another thread although I’m sure there will be one. Media day is today. Jay had a long questions session and the players are talking now. Anyone else watch?

So he was throwing his hands at the pitches and losing power? And LSU says they can fix that by having him activate his hips? It sounds a lot like my golf swing. I wonder if they could help me too. It sounds easy enough, throw your hips at the ball and the bat/clubhead will follow. I will probably go from slicing it into the trees to duck hooking it in the water though.

If Braswell is as good defensively as they say, anything close to .300 at the plate would be great.
