Since EV proponents frequently factor in maintenance items into the cost of ownership, honestly assessing shorter tire life is perfectly reasonable.

It absolutely is part of it. Like i said earlier there's about a 5% torque factor and then probably around ~5% weight depending on what you're comparing. If you're two options are a Corolla and a Model S Plaid, there's going to be a bigger gap obviously, but thats not what any reasonable consumer is comparing. The reality is the gap is pretty small.

Look at the whole picture initial cost, carrying cost, fuel, oil changes, brakes, tires, battery replacement reserve and on and on.

As a tesla and full size truck owner, I agree. It's a concern that must be accounted for.
