wonder if Gayle even knows how poor our cap management is, or even questions Loomis on the topic.

She probably doesn't care. It's just money that ends up getting converted into bonuses and she writes the check. It doesn't matter to her, she's not leaving the team to anyone when she's gone so there's no need to pinch pennies.

The one part I don't agree with this is the Cam being hurt bit. His injury came late in the year. He had been sitting out 3rd downs/obvious passing downs. It was just a very pedestrian season from him. Hopefully it is an outlier and father time hasn't zapped him of all his ability.

Saints ranked 12th in the NFL in dead cap for 2023.

And we'll be in the top 1/3 in 2024

And we'll be in the top 1/3 in 2025

How so? It's similar to the national debt in that the cap overage is like an interest due payment and it's currently 1/3 of the cap allotment. It will soon be 1/2 the cap allotment if everything remains the same going forward.

The big issue I have is that the org was mortgaging the future while they had the nucleus of a SB challenging team. They are not close to that now and they are still following the same script.

Our two highest cap hits this season were Cameron Jordan and Michael Thomas. About 30M. Not gonna get it done.
