So if this goes through and St. George wins.. what is the immediate impact?

I’m sure our property taxes will increase. But what more can we expect with our tax dollars now going to this newly found city?

Immediately there not be any changes in our property taxes. Those taxes all go to the parish, parish wide services like BREC, and the Sheriff, the EBRSS, and to the fire service provider.

The revenues collected by ST George will mainly come from sales taxes we already pay to EBR, and from other sources. The idea is to direct all that money to improve the quality of life in SG.

SG would be responsible for upkeep if local streets, traffic signals, cleaning ditches, picking up litter and trash, striping local streets, and public safety.

The idea is instead of sending our tax dollars to City Hall and then begging for services, we could do it ourselves better.

You mean with their tax dollars now going to their newly found city.
