They pay taxes. Unfortunately, the way the budget is done their taxes only cover a percentage of what is spent on the area instead of all of what is spent.
Hence the people getting catty.
If you are paying $20 and I am paying $30 into a pot and $45 of it gets spent on you, I’m not going to be too interested in pointing out that you paid some of that money. I’m going to be more interested in pointing out I paid $30 for $5 in spending.

No one forgets that. But this whole thing has laid bare how much the unincorporated parts of the parish are getting fricked.
