And im not sure if you live anywhere in the parish do you get what you pay for
Right now, St George is putting about $50m a year into the general fund and not seeing anything close to that in services because they aren’t a city.
They could get $20m in services for $50m in tax revenue and it would be a step up from what the parish allocates now.

Correct.
Sewerage and Water - parish service, already provided and paid for by taxpayers
Garbage and recycling - same
Sheriff - same
EMS - same
Fire (St. George) - exclusively paid for by St.G. residents.
They beat their chest about having a police department and the costs for that, but that's not required - they can stand pat with EBRSO (at least, for a while).
Schools?
They don't even have a district yet - so it's a parish-wide expense and is already paid for.

It’s hilarious that politicians tote around “save our democracy”…
Then we have a democratic vote, and a subset of the population then screams “no not that kind of democracy!”
Politics on a national stage is sickening, but it feels often futile and unchangeable.
But this was here at home and a whole region of the parish voiced their will, and the local ruling class simply is trying to not allow it because they don’t like the outcome.
Explain to me how that’s not a dictatorship.
