My mom (80 yo) is in a group like this... it's very depressing to me. It appears to be 90% women who are middle aged to old. Many are widows and it's almost like they are LARPing bc they don't have anything exciting going on.

I wouldn't mind it but she feels the need to bring this shite up often when we talk on the phone, which means I talk to her way less often than I otherwise would.

Also when I see her in person I've heard her make snarky remarks TO COMPLETE STRANGERS like "well that's not really Biden" or "HAH! Trump is still President - you'll see!" and it is the cringiest thing I've ever experienced.
