Location: couch
Conditions:: 70* and light breeze from ceiling fan
Firearm: coffee mug
I didn’t even set the alarm when I went to bed. I’m tied up next weekend and will hunt this afternoon, mainly to mark the end of this absolutely awful, terrible season.
I don’t know if it’s the residual effects of last summers drought or what but this is one of the worst seasons in years. I stopped by Vines in Centreville yesterday and the guy behind the meat counter said they’ve processed 25% of the deer they normally do.
Hopefully there’s a post-season analysis thread when season is over.

What area of Centreville do you hunt?

That’s so odd, because we saw more deer this year than I can remember in over a dozen years of hunting this property (central MS). And for sure we’ve never seen racks like this year.
I expected what you said, that the drought would be an issue, but although they were awfully skinny from the time I put cameras up in September until the acorns started dropping, pretty much every doe we saw had a baby with her. I have no idea on the antler growth, other than we put out protein for the first time last February.
