I got a bad feeling here.
Many of these crawfish farmers are going to be in dire financial straits very soon.
In comes corporate / private equity money, who will buy out the farms very cheaply, then they can wait around for the industry to recover. If it takes a year or two, no worries.
Then, boom, Jack up prives and profit.

Kind of like how cigarette prices plummeted since tv and magazine ads quit "glorifying" smoking right? Although crawfish is a staple locally it's also considered a luxury product by many, including myself.
Unfortunately it doesn't work the way you think it does and supply, demand and pricing vary widely from season to season due to things out of the farmers' control. Things like weather, inflation, timing of high demand events, dealing with issues while attempting to raise wild animals to meet market demands etc. All concepts apparently that weak minds cannot understand.
It's simple enough...if you can afford them and want to pay for it, buy them. If not eat your shrimp, fried fish, steaks, lobster, caviar etc. Smokers still pay an arm and a leg for cigarettes today because they want them. Some folks will eat crawfish regardless of price volatility.
And if by "go down to where they belong" you mean that they'd become dirt cheap where producers couldn't make money. Then bankrupting farms and removing crawfish from the market would have the exact opposite effect from what you and the other morons here suggest.

Where does the price belong?
What's the breakeven price on an acre of avg crawfish production?
I doubt you come back and answer these questions

Don’t put the crawfish on a pedestal
