What’s the deal with lawyers wearing a coat and tie to work or in a courtroom?
Or those crazy wigs

Meridian….most of these folks weren’t born yet when that show aired!

internists arent wearing scrub caps
but its easier to keep it on than taking it on/off very frequently and walking around rocking mad scientist hair inbetween.

My hair looks like shite after wearing it for 6 hours in surgery so I keep it on if still in the hospital.
It also kind of just seems cleaner and I feel like I present myself more as a “doctor” with it on.
I feel cooler with it on.
I was a slave to the medical training system for a decade of the best years of my life and don’t give a frick what you think.

Same reason welders wear welding hats everywhere.

Would you rather a doctor wear a football helmet?

Scrubs guy at the gym is a little obnoxious, IMO. We get it, bro, you’re working 100 hour weeks as a resident and going to be rich.

I was visiting somebody in the hospital the other day and they were all walking around like they had just taken out a hot appendix.

People still wear them because of the covid precautions they make you wear… gown, mask, gloves, caps… its stupid to some degree.

Uh, maybe hiding their lack of hair?
FIFY. and most who wear them aren't doctors. RN, Techs, CRNAs

Probably Ortho bros building up their hammering muscles. They gotta go all John Henry on someone's hip tomorrow at 6am.

Back when I was a medical-device rep (currently a manager) scrubs, a facemask, shoe coverings and a surgical hat or bouffant cap were always required by anyone in the ICU, OR/CVOR, Cath Lab, etc. We also were required to have all of our vaccinations and titers up-to-date and had to complete yearly OSHA and hospital mandated courses on sterile technique, airbourne pathogens, etc.

I literally came here to say that I call BS on a dermatologist at a hospital. Yeah, right.
I haven’t seen them outside the hospital. But sometimes other specialists have to get “gowned” for procedures and part of that is a surgical cap or bonnet.

On ER they always tear it off when frustrated.

No way, man. Unless they're going to see a coof patient or some other reason for isolation.
