We did RbA a few years ago. 14 double-hung windows replaced all of the original frames in our 40YO home. It ran us almost 40K. It was the "middle" quote we got out of 3 total, Pella being one of the others. The Pella folks gave us a quote of nearly $50K and that was before I had to remind them of the state-required tempered glass on a few of the windows (yes, their guy flat-out forgot to price that part in). I live in TX for reference, but really in any state you should check your codes to see what's required.

Expensive as hell, yes, and the finance options are shite and I hate paying it, but I can't say I've had any less than a stellar experience with their team (who got it done in 2 days) or the windows themselves. The biggest test so far has been this recent cold snap and we had no issues with draft or heat loss like we had with the original frames. And they look pretty nice. I feel like we got what we paid for.

And for reference our neighbors next door had 15 windows replaced on their home for half the price but less than six months after that they said they wished they'd have gone with someone more reputable (I didn't ask them who they went with).

So much of it's gonna depend on the team they send out, too. Hopefully when you're talking tens of thousands of dollars you can talk them into sending people who know what the frick they're doing.
