You just had to get involved when it mattered, and almost nobody did, besides those people who wanted to profit from the influence.
It sounds like you're saying you did absolutely nothing, and you're wondering what went wrong.
People used to regularly call their politicians at home to bitch. They'd get out and spend hours a week knocking on doors, calling voters, etc to work against the person they didn't want. They'd corner them at church or the local store.
Like I said, the younger generations weren't interested in getting involved, and the system used this lack of attention to shift accountability to the big money and away from the people.
I'm always confused by all of your replies when I beat this drum. It feels like some of you are just trolling.
Is the issue that you just never knew that 100's or 1000's of people from the district level used to spend 1000's of hours a year getting involved in your local, state, and national elections back in the day?
