I think it's worse than you realize.

We need to spend 2 years getting our cap situation straight...while hitting rock bottom. THEN, after a couple of years of high picks and a good cap situation, you hire someone that has a good vision.

We are two hard years (which we haven't even started) before "firing the entire staff and starting fresh" could be a viable strategy.

All of which is contingent on having an ownership/management that subscribes to this plan and doesn’t make it worse in the meantime. It is here where I lose heart.

I think you bring in that vision now - because you’re going to need those draft picks to execute it.

Bring a guy in and say “we’re rebuilding - and you get to call it. Plan to get back above 500 in year 3” - or something to that effect.

It’s even worst than this. You are assuming that the saints make great draft picks and find a QB. See Miami dolphins post Marino.

Screw that..I'm not waiting 7 years. It's not 1984. You can fix your situation without hitting rock bottom..
