Stop buying into the narrative that this guy is a great coach.

Eh, I think the guy is a good coach. Regardless of where he built it, his resume is impressive.

Now, you can argue that he’s been going against coaches who were not on his level. That I can buy. How does he fair when he faces coaches that truly are elite within the profession? The only example we have is against Harbourgh. And we all know how that turned out.

How does he fair in the SEC when (most weeks) the coach on the other sideline is just as good or better than you are? Can he match wits each week with guys like Kelly, Kiffin, Smart, Freeze, Heupel, and even Drinkwitz?

Are we pretending he hasn't gone up against Lanning, Sark, Riley, etc.?

Have you checked out his record against those 3 elite coaches?

I don't think anyone thinks he is behind many coaches in terms of his coaching/strategy.

The possible issue is recruiting and acquiring top talent. I mean hell in his brief tenure at UW, he's done more than Kiffin, Kelly, Freeze, Heupel, and Drink have ever done. How many combined playoff victories do those coaches have?
